Show Your Appreciation to Members of Our Navy for Their Invaluable Service

October is a special month for the men and women of the U.S. Navy. First, it’s the Navy’s birthday on the 13th. Then on the 27th, it’s Navy Day. It’s a day dedicated to honoring everyone who represents our military’s naval branch.

Our sailors are tasked with the primary mission of maintaining and manning combat-ready warships to protect our nation from harm and defend our freedoms. Moreover, they also perform peacekeeping and rescue missions.

Thank Someone in the Navy

Navy Day is the perfect time to recognize and honor our sailors, past and present. For those who have passed away, you can still honor their lives by placing a flag and flowers on each of their graves, or by simply sharing stories about them.

If you have a family member or friend who is a sailor, use this day to honor them for their service to our nation. Here are five meaningful ways of doing this:

  1. Make a shadow box for them.

Nothing says “I appreciate your service” like giving them a shadow box. The glass-enclosed display case should contain objects that have sentimental values for them. Consider putting these in the box:

  • Patches and rank pins
  • Ribbon board and medals
  • Miniature U.S. Navy and American flags
  • Name badge
  • Their beret or cap
  • Challenge coins
  • Their official Navy portrait

There’s no doubt that such a thoughtfully made gift will touch their heart.

  1. Take them out for lunch.

Spend Navy Day by treating a sailor to their favorite restaurant. Let them satisfy their cravings as you bond with them.

  1. Throw a party.

If you’re close with the sailor — if they’re your best bud, a sibling, or your spouse — why not host an intimate party for them? It doesn’t have to be fancy; a backyard barbecue or picnic will do. As long as everyone they love is present, it’s going to be a blast!

  1. Shake their hand.

Something as simple as shaking a sailor’s hand while expressing your gratitude to them for their service can already brighten their day. Make sure that you maintain eye contact while you’re saying “thank you” to make it more meaningful.

  1. Give them a day off.

If you’re a business owner with an employee who used to serve in the Navy, consider giving them a paid leave as your way of showing your gratitude for their past service. Another way to help them take a much-needed break is by volunteering to perform their chores and errands. They deserve it.

Endearing Messages You Can Tell a Sailor

Don’t have time to celebrate Navy Day because of your super hectic schedule? You might as well just send a text or card to a sailor you know to voice your admiration. Here are five endearing messages that can make them smile:

  1. “We might not have our freedoms now if it weren’t for you.”
  2. “Your service made it possible for us to live in a country that’s free, strong, and full of wonders.”
  3. “You’re a hero.”
  4. “Thank you for what you’ve done for our nation.”
  5. “Thinking of you today. I’m always here when you need a friend.”

Extend a Helping Hand to the Struggling Veterans in Your Community

Did you know that an old vehicle that you no longer need can be converted into a powerful tool that can transform the lives of struggling former sailors as well as other former service members? That will happen when you donate that vehicle to us at Veteran Car Donations.

We will use your donation to help those veterans in your community who are homeless, disabled, jobless, and physically or mentally ill. You’ll help make it possible for them to overcome the tough challenges they face and experience the decent and dignified lives that they deserve.

We’ll put your vehicle up for auction, with the proceeds going to our veteran-focused nonprofit partners. These IRS-certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations use the funding we give them to provide their beneficiaries with free quality health care, financial aid, housing assistance, employment opportunities, family support, educational scholarships, psychotherapy services, and many other benefits.

Within 30 days following the sale of your donated vehicle, we’ll mail you your car’s 100% tax-deductible sales receipt. This will entitle you to claim the highest possible amount of tax deduction based on your car’s value in the next tax season.

Additionally, you’ll benefit from the free pickup and towing services that we will provide you. Just give us a time, date, and place, and we’ll coordinate with a licensed towing company to collect your vehicle anywhere in the country.

Above all, you’ll get to experience what it’s like to make a difference in the lives of our heroes. That’s something you’ll forever be proud of.

We accept almost all types of vehicles for donation. They don’t even have to be in good shape when we haul them away.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact us anytime through our toll-free hotline at 877-594-5822. You can also message us here. For more information on our vehicle donation program, including our quick and easy donation process, head over to our FAQs page.
