Happy 246th Birthday to Our Marine Corps!

November 10th is a special day for everyone who serves or has served in the Marine Corps. It’s their corps’ birthday! This year, the military branch turns 246 years old.

For many, it’s a time to reminisce about their days as Marines, back when they used to gather for a luau in Okinawa, or their grueling boot camp training where they’d get shouted at by their drill instructors just so they could get their marching done properly. Some proudly look back to the time they received their Eagle, Globe, and Anchor emblems. Some spend the day honoring their fallen comrades while others reach out to fellow veterans to catch up.

However, you don’t have to be in the Marine Corps to observe this special occasion. You can take it as an opportunity to thank our heroes. Here are six simple ways to show your gratitude to them for their invaluable service to our nation:

  1. Volunteer at a veteran-focused nonprofit.

Habitat for Humanity, Paralyzed Veterans of America, and The American Legion are just some of the organizations that cater to our retired military personnel. They often need volunteers to help with their outreach programs, which makes this the best time for you to offer your time and skills.

  1. Look for a community event.

Whether you live near or far from a base, you’re likely to find veteran organizations somewhere in your area hosting an event to pay tribute to former Marines. Reach out to your local Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter to get the best leads, and then take your family to take part in the community event.

  1. Throw a grill out.

If you know a former or active-duty Marine, invite them over to your place to relax and enjoy a delicious meal. Serve them your best burger and a refreshing beverage. Spend the day exchanging stories.

  1. Express your gratitude with a letter.

A simple gesture like writing a sincere message of thanks is enough to touch the hearts of our Marines. Have your friends and family write letters of appreciation to let these brave individuals know how much their service and sacrifice mean to you. You may send these notes through the United Service Organizations (USO).

  1. Post about the inspiring life story of a Marine veteran on social media.

The Marine veteran can be a distant relative or somebody else whose life story touched you. Show the whole world how much you’re grateful for them by featuring their inspiring story on your social media pages.

  1. Place flowers on the graves of fallen Marines.

Visit a veterans cemetery to pay your respects to our fallen heroes. Bring flowers to leave on a grave or two.

Impact the Lives of Our Veterans with This Act

Here’s another meaningful thing you can do to make the most of the Marine Corps Birthday: Donate your unwanted vehicle to us here at Veteran Car Donations. By doing so, you get to support not just our former Marines but also those who’ve served in other military branches who are facing hard times. They include those who are struggling with unemployment, homelessness, service-connected disabilities, and unresolved physical and mental health issues.

We’ll auction off your donated vehicle and use the proceeds to support the life improvement programs of our charity partners. These IRS-certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations are dedicated to helping disadvantaged veterans, using the funding we give them to provide their beneficiaries with essential medical care, housing assistance, mental health services, employment opportunities, job training, education scholarships, family support, and many other benefits.

As our donor, you’ll get to enjoy a maximum tax deduction based on the selling price of your vehicle during its auction. We’ll send you the 100% tax-deductible sales receipt of your car within days after its sale. You can then use this receipt to claim your tax write-off in the next tax season.

You’ll also benefit from our free pickup and towing service, which is available to all our donors in all parts of the country.

Aside from the material rewards in store for you as our donor, you’ll also be privileged to enjoy a most satisfying donating experience, knowing that your act of charity will help transform the lives of our nation’s heroes.

You can donate not just your old car but almost any other type of vehicle that you no longer need.
