National Career Development Month: 9 Ways To Boost Your Personal and Professional Growth
November of each year gives us the extra motivation to reflect on our present profession, explore other career fields, and encourage our kids to choose jobs that they’d love doing when they grow up. It’s National Career Development Month!
Started by the National Career Development Association more than 50 years ago, this month-long celebration aims to highlight the importance of career development and how it brings personal growth and success. It’s the time of the year for all of us to ponder on our career journey and contemplate on what we need to change in our lives to progress further.
Many schools and companies in the country observe the occasion through various activities—from fun activities such as the Poetry and Art Contest to more informative ones such as webinars, workshops, and seminars.
The 9 Ways to Success
Everyone can participate in National Career Development Month. Whether you’re still in college or are already a senior officer in your organization, taking part in activities related to the commemoration of the event can help you nurture your personal and professional development. To help you out, here are nine ideas on how you can do that:
- Take a step further in your career by learning a new skill.
- Grow your network by acquainting yourself with others who are in the same field as you are.
- Envision your ideal career by creating a career vision board.
- Update your resume for future purposes.
- Read inspirational books written by successful people.
- Talk to a career counselor.
- Follow and subscribe to blogs that talk about career growth and development.
- Make a list of your current weaknesses as a professional and think of ways on how you can properly address them.
- Spend more time with career-oriented people.
Help Out Our Former Troops with Your Car Donation
As you think of ways to nurture your professional growth, think also of the condition faced by many of our veterans whose military career has come to a screeching halt following their retirement or discharge from the service.
Did you know that there are about 370,000 unemployed veterans in the country? Many of them are unable to receive the benefits due them from the government for one reason or another. As such, they have fallen deep into poverty. Worse, some of them are still suffering from service-connected injuries and disabilities and other physical and mental health problems. Some could not even afford to pay the rent and have become homeless, forcing to beg for alms on our streets and sidewalks.
Wouldn’t you want to help them? Remember, these are our former troops who fought for us and sacrificed a lot to defend our freedoms and protect our nation’s security. We all owe them an immense debt of gratitude.
Together with our nonprofit partners, we at Veteran Car Donations are doing our best to provide them with all the assistance they need. You can help us in our mission by donating to us a vehicle you no longer use. We sell at auction all vehicles donated to us and use the proceeds to support the programs of our partners that are dedicated to helping out our veterans. Thanks to the donations we receive, these suffering veterans will receive mortgage-free and specially adapted housing, physical and mental health care, job opportunities, education scholarships, and other benefits.
What makes our car donation program truly special is the fact that your donation will benefit not just our struggling veterans and their families but also yourself! As one of the rewards you’ll get for your charitable contribution, you’ll get to receive the highest possible tax deduction after your vehicle is sold.
You can donate to Veteran Car Donations by either calling us or filling out our online donation form. We accept vehicle donations wherever you are in the United States since we have car donation programs in all 50 states.
Make this National Career Development Month a truly special event by extending meaningful assistance to our impoverished veterans. Call us at 877-594-5822 and get free towing service for your car donation.
