3 Child Assistance Programs Offered by VA, Nonprofits

Out of the 19.2 million veterans in the United States as of 2019, 10% were female, according to the Department of Veteran Affairs. That number comprised about 2 million female veterans, some of whom were mothers or soon-to-be moms. Some of these women were already mothers before they joined the military, while others had their first child after they already left the service.

That is why the VA and nonprofit organizations catering to veterans are improving their programs on gender-specific concerns like motherhood or child care.

Unfortunately, however, surveys have shown that many female veterans are underutilizing their VA benefits, mostly because they didn’t know their specific concerns were covered, such as in the case of child care support.

To promote awareness of child assistance programs for female veterans, Veteran Car Donations has listed three of these programs offered by the VA and concerned nonprofit organizations:

  1. Veteran Affairs Maternity Care (VA)

Maternity care is included in the benefits for female veterans offered by the Department of Veteran Affairs. This includes most of what pregnant female vets need such as full physical exams, lab tests, ultrasounds, and even prescription drugs for their pregnancies. The VA also provides social work and mental health services for after-delivery care, including much-needed support in case of miscarriages or stillbirth.

  1. Child Care Assistance (Foundation of Women Warriors)

The Foundation of Women Warriors is a support nonprofit organization exclusively for women veterans. It has a childcare assistance program that helps female veterans with their kids. For example, the group provides childcare stipends for working veteran mothers or students, allowing them to place their children in trusted care providers of their choosing. The nonprofit also gives stipends to veteran moms for their summer breaks and winter breaks, lending them a helping hand when it comes to caring for their youngsters.

  1. Women & Children’s Program (Veterans Inc.)

Veterans Inc. provides in-house services for homeless female veterans with children. The nonprofit has supportive programs such as transitional housing, counseling, transportation, and even financial assistance for deserving women veterans so they can get back on their feet.

You Can Help Veterans in Need Using Your Clunker

Life after service in the military is a new chapter of suffering for some of our veterans. The transition phase into civilian life is strewn with tough challenges, especially for vets who have spent many years in service and those who have been exposed to traumatic combat situations.

That is why some veterans end up on the street, homeless and forced to beg for alms just to survive. Many others are without jobs and unable to support themselves and their families. Some are suffering from service-connected disabilities and illnesses, including mental health conditions.

You can easily reach out to the hurting veterans and their families in your local area. If you have an old car just sitting at home, that’s all you need to give them a chance to turn their lives around.

All you have to do is donate that vehicle to us here at Veteran Car Donations. We’ll put your vehicle up for auction, with the proceeds going to our veteran-focused nonprofit partners. These IRS-certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations use the funding that we provide them to deliver quality health care, financial aid, housing assistance, employment opportunities, family support, educational scholarships, psychotherapy services, and many other benefits to deserving veterans and their families.

Your act of charity will also allow you to dispose of a clunker you no longer need at no cost to you. We’ll provide you with our free professional towing service wherever you are in the country.

Moreover, your gift will entitle you to receive the maximum tax deduction in the next tax season.

Best of all, you’ll get to experience the priceless satisfaction of helping our nation’s heroes live the decent and satisfying life they deserve.

We accept almost all types of vehicles regardless of their age or condition for as long as they have valid titles and not a total wreck. If you’re uncertain about your vehicle’s eligibility for our program, check out this page.
