Manage Your Negative Feelings with These Activities

While stress and anxiety may be uncomfortable to deal with, they’re a normal part of being human. These feelings prepare and condition your mind and body as you face challenging situations.

Unfortunately, our experiences can lead us to develop certain triggers that let these feelings go off even for the smallest of concerns. For example, you probably feel jumpy sometimes whenever you sense that someone is walking behind you.

Anxiety and stress can make it extra challenging for you to go through your daily life.  This is the reality faced by many of our troops, particularly those who had certain painful or traumatic experiences during their training or deployment. Sometimes, stress and anxiety manifest in their lives after they leave the service, especially during a difficult transition to civilian life. If severe enough, stress and anxiety can cause physical symptoms in their bodies.

Luckily, if you’re a veteran faced with this situation, you can manage your stress and anxiety by adopting certain hobbies. Veteran Car Donations has gathered five of these hobbies:

  1. Photography

Photography aficionados see things differently through the lens of a camera as they capture beautiful moments and freeze them forever in time. You don’t need to buy a fancy or expensive camera. You can even use just your smartphone to start taking great pictures.

  1. Puzzles

Puzzles can help your brain grind its gears while you pass the time. This hobby may help distract you from the stress and anxiety troubling your mind while you develop brain power at the same time.

  1. Exercise

You can improve your physical health and drown out your worries by sweating them out! You can exercise at home, sign up at your local gym, or even just go for a run around your neighborhood. The more exercise becomes a regular part of your routine, the more effective it will be.

  1. Writing

Writing is an effective tool for stress management. You can start the hobby by writing short stories, poems, or even just journaling your experiences in life. Putting your thoughts or feelings into words can help you feel more relaxed and in control.

  1. Gardening

You get sunshine, fresh air, and, in a few weeks, fresh vegetables, fruits, and flowers, too! Gardening helps you appreciate your beautiful surroundings even better, especially when you had a hand in shaping them.

Some Vets Need More Than Hobbies to Cope with Life

Hobbies can surely help veterans fight stress and anxiety. However, many of our former service members need more than hobbies to overcome the tough hurdles they face in their transition to civilian life. These are the vets who are homeless, jobless, disabled, and physically or mentally ill.

With an unwanted car, you can do so much for these veterans in need. When you hand over that vehicle to us at Veteran Car Donations, you’ll be lending a helping hand to our nation’s retired heroes.

We’ll put your vehicle up for auction, with the proceeds going to our veteran-focused nonprofit partners. These IRS-certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations use the funding to provide their beneficiaries with free quality health care, financial aid, housing assistance, employment opportunities, family support, educational scholarships, psychotherapy services, and many other benefits.

You will also benefit from your charitable contribution since you’ll get to enjoy our free towing service, which is available in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia. Additionally, you’ll enjoy our quick and convenient donation process where you don’t have to do any paperwork.

Furthermore, you’ll have the privilege of receiving a maximized tax deduction in the next tax season.

Above all, you’ll have the ultimate pleasure and satisfaction of doing something extraordinary that can help transform the lives of our nation’s heroes.

Do you know that you can donate almost any vehicle type that you can think of? We take in sedans, trucks, vans, and even boats! Feel free to donate to us any vehicle you no longer need regardless of its condition.
