Thank Them for Raising Heroes!

Every year on the second Sunday of May, we celebrate Mother’s Day in honor of our beloved moms. While we recognize the key role our mothers play in our lives, there is another kind of mother who deserves special honors: the Gold Star Mothers.

They are those who lost their sons or daughters in service to our nation. The love they feel for their children is unquantifiable, as was their sacrifice in sending them off to do what they knew was right but hoped would never come to them at such a personal cost. Indeed, these mothers embody the virtues that our nation holds dear: strength, resilience, and selflessness.

On National Gold Star Mother’s Day, which falls on the 24th of September this year, let’s take a moment to pause and stand together to salute all Gold Star Moms. It’s the perfect opportunity to let them know how much we’re grateful to them for raising kids who turned out to be heroes.

Here’s How to Touch Her Heart

If you personally know a mother who lost her child on the battlefield, Veteran Car Donations has come up with five meaningful ways to touch her heart on this special day:

  1. Send her a card or letter of appreciation.

A Gold Star Mother will surely appreciate receiving a personalized card or letter sincerely thanking her for raising a hero. Considering that most people today communicate via text or email, receiving a handwritten note would make her feel more valued.

  1. Give her a token gift.

Whether it’s a box of cookies, a bouquet of her favorite flowers, a gift card for buying something that she would love, or a handmade bracelet with the initials of her deceased loved one, surprising a Gold Star Mom with a token gift of appreciation will no doubt make her day.

  1. Honor the memory of her child.

Celebrate the life of her heroic child by honoring them with a special event or ceremony, such as planting a tree or displaying their pictures in public places. If you have photos together with the deceased, you can even post them on social media and share the fondest memory you had with them.

  1. Extend her a helping hand.

Show you care by offering to help her out with a few tasks, chores, or errands she has to do. Tell her that she can spend the day however she wants to — be it by pampering herself, catching up with friends, or going on a quick day trip — as you’ll be taking care of doing the things on her daily activity checklist.

  1. Spend time together.

Perhaps the best way to display your admiration for a Gold Star Mother is to spend quality time with her. Invite her over to your place for lunch, take her out for coffee, treat her to a spa date, or maybe even go on a road trip to a place of her choice.

You Can Make a Difference in the Lives of Our Struggling Vets, Too!

While National Gold Star Mother’s Day is all about honoring the mothers of our fallen service members, it can also serve as a reminder that many of our living veterans are also in need of our support. They include those in your local community who are suffering from homelessness, disabilities, joblessness, and serious illnesses, including mental disorders.

You can extend them a helping hand by simply donating a vehicle that you no longer use to us at Veteran Car Donations. We’ll put your car up for auction, with the proceeds going to our veteran-focused nonprofit partners. Like us, these IRS-certified 501(c)(3) nonprofits are dedicated to serving disadvantaged veterans. They use the funding we give them to provide their beneficiaries with housing and financial assistance, employment and livelihood opportunities, family support, free quality health care and medical treatment, psychotherapy services, scholarships, and many other benefits all meant to improve their living conditions.

Donating to us is quick and easy. We won’t hassle you with unnecessary steps or complicated paperwork. All you have to do is contact us.

You also won’t go home empty-handed after making your donation. You’ll receive valuable rewards such as the free and fast towing of your unwanted vehicle anywhere in the country.

Your charitable contribution will also entitle you to claim the maximum tax deduction in the next tax season.

More importantly, your act of charity will leave you feeling fully satisfied, knowing that you’re helping uplift the lives of the heroes residing in your area.

We accept not just cars but almost all other types of vehicles, including those that are no longer in good condition.
