Looking for Budget-Friendly Ways to Celebrate the Holiday This Year?

With the nation in the midst of a recession, it’s not surprising why many people are determined to stick to a tighter budget this coming holiday season, including Thanksgiving on November 24th. A lot of families are finding themselves struggling with the ever-increasing prices of food and other essentials. They expect the already-expensive Thanksgiving dinner to become even more expensive this year.

The good news is that you can still enjoy sumptuous meals with your loved ones and go on with your Thanksgiving traditions without having to spend a lot of money. Yes, it’s possible! Veteran Car Donations shares the following tips on how to celebrate Thanksgiving in a budget-friendly way:

  1. Don’t hesitate to “think inside the can.”

While we can’t deny that fresh is always better, we have to admit that this food choice option can hurt our pockets. For instance, you can have cranberry sauce straight from a can, which is cheaper, instead of buying fresh cranberries and producing the sauce from them.

  1. Shop smarter.

The week before November 24th, collect all of the Thanksgiving ads you encounter so you’ll be able to compare prices between stores on all the items you need. Pick up goods that have the most affordable prices.

However, just because something’s on sale doesn’t mean that you should add it to your cart right away. Things like canned pumpkin and baking supplies may be on sale, but if you don’t find them necessary, don’t buy them.

  1. Go for a potluck.

Hosting a potluck party is one of the best ways to save money while enjoying delicious Thanksgiving dishes at the same time. Have each of your Thanksgiving dinner guests bring their favorite side dish.

  1. Buy in bulk.

Buying in bulk not only saves you money; it can also help you discover creative ways of using leftover ingredients. Refrigerate any leftovers as soon as they’ve cooled down and use them in the succeeding days. Casserole anything with little effort. You can make lunchtime sandwiches, too, with those leftovers.

  1. Take stock of what you already have.

Got any frozen vegetables in the back of your freezer? Or maybe several old canned goodies in your cupboard that you forgot even existed? Before starting your grocery shopping, check what you already have in your kitchen so you don’t have to buy similar items that will unnecessarily cost you money.

Give Our Hurting Vets a Reason to Be Thankful on November 24th!

You can make this year’s Thanksgiving a special one for the veterans in your community who are grappling with major challenges in life. They are those who are impoverished and homeless, begging for food and spare change from passersby on sidewalks. They are those who have been jobless for a long time, those with disabilities, and those who are sick, including those with mental health issues.

All you need to do to reach out to those folks is to donate any vehicle you can spare to us at Veteran Car Donations. When you do that, you’ll be helping ease their burdens and even turn their lives around.

Our team will put your donated vehicle up for auction, with the proceeds going to reputable military and veteran nonprofit organizations that are in partnership with us. These IRS-certified 501(c)(3) nonprofits are committed to helping disadvantaged and neglected veterans, providing them with housing and financial assistance, employment and livelihood opportunities, family support, free quality health care and medical treatment, psychotherapy services, scholarships, and other services all meant to uplift their lives.

To thank you for your charitable contribution, we’ll pick up and tow away your vehicle for free anywhere in the country. We’ll also promptly send you the 100% tax-deductible sales receipt of your car so you can claim the highest possible tax deduction in the next tax season.

Above all, you’ll have the ultimate pleasure and satisfaction of doing something extraordinary that can help transform the lives of our nation’s heroes.

Since we welcome nearly all types of vehicles, feel free to donate a car, truck, van, RV, motorcycle, boat, or even an old motorized wheelchair.

Check out our FAQs page for more information on our vehicle donation program, including our quick and convenient donation process. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to call us through our 24/7 toll-free hotline at 877-594-5822 or you may scribble us a note here.
