What Is the Coast Guard Mutual Assistance?

The Coast Guard Mutual Assistance (CGMA) is an independent nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to active-duty and retired members of the United States Coast Guard and their dependents. It was established in 1924 by an act of Congress as the only official military relief society for the U.S. Coast Guard and its predecessors.

The CGMA’s mission is to promote the financial stability and overall well-being of the Coast Guard community. The organization is committed to helping Coast Guard members protect their financial future and lead a better quality of life. It also aims to boost morale and encourage a sense of loyalty to all members of the Coast Guard family.

CGMA works to ensure that all Coast Guard personnel and their families receive the support they need during difficult times by providing a range of programs and services, such as financial assistance grants, counseling, budgeting guidance, and educational scholarship opportunities. It also offers life insurance policies and other benefits for qualified individuals.

What Educational Benefits Are Provided by CGMA?

The Coast Guard Mutual Assistance provides a variety of educational benefits to assist eligible active-duty, reserve, and retired members of the Coast Guard and their families. These benefits include:

  • Tuition assistance grants of up to $4,500 per fiscal year and up to 100% tuition coverage for undergraduate courses;
  • Education loans of up to $10,000 per fiscal year;
  • Reimbursements for college entrance and professional certification tests;
  • College savings match program;
  • Career transition assistance, including access to job counseling, resume, and interview preparation;
  • Educational workshops on topics like college planning, scholarship searching, and financial literacy;
  • Computer technology grants.

CGMA also offers special loan programs for members of the Coast Guard family who do not meet the traditional requirements for obtaining a bank loan. These loans may be used to cover expenses related to education, including tuition, fees, books, and school supplies.

In addition to that, CGMA provides emergency financial assistance in times of need, particularly to those who are affected by natural disasters or other unforeseen circumstances. This assistance usually comes in the form of covering tuition payments or any education-related expenses.

Reach Out to the Disadvantaged Vets in Your Area

Even though many organizations cater to veterans, particularly those who are struggling, many of them are still unable to get the support they need to help them overcome the challenges they’re facing. They include former service members who are grappling with homelessness due to extreme poverty, chronic unemployment, service-connected disabilities, as well as serious physical and mental illnesses.

What if we told you that you can play a part in turning their lives around? By simply donating an unwanted vehicle to us at Veteran Car Donations, you’ll make it possible for the needy vets in your community to experience a life of contentment.

Once we get hold of your donated vehicle, we’ll put it up for auction and distribute the proceeds to our IRS-certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit partners. Like us, these organizations have a lifelong mission of improving the living conditions of our hurting heroes. They use the funding we give them to provide their beneficiaries with housing and financial assistance, employment and livelihood opportunities, family support, free quality health care and medical treatment, psychotherapy services, scholarships, and many other benefits.

In exchange for your kindness, you’ll have the privilege of enjoying our fast and free towing service, which is available to our donors anywhere in the United States. You’ll also be entitled to claim the highest possible tax deduction in the next tax season.

However, the best reward you’ll get for your charitable contribution is the priceless joy of knowing that you’re doing something that can transform the lives of the hurting veterans in your community.

Since we accept nearly all vehicle types, feel free to donate your car, truck, van, RV, motorcycle, or whatever vehicle you have regardless of its age and condition.
