It’s the Best Time to Show Them Your Gratitude and Appreciation

We celebrate National Armed Forces Day annually on the third Saturday of May, which is the 21st of May this year. On this day, we are reminded to honor the courageous men and women of our armed forces, express our gratitude and appreciation for their invaluable service, and show them our support.

Cities across America typically observe the day by organizing events that pay homage to our service members. These include public military service displays such as parades, air shows, educational exhibits for kids, and open days. Some civic organizations also hold “Support the Troops” motorbike rallies.

Many Americans celebrate the day by going on picnics with friends or relatives who have served in the military. Others binge-watch war films or documentaries with their families, while some others write social media messages, proclaiming their admiration for our nation’s heroes.

What about you? How will you spend National Armed Forces Day this year? Don’t have any idea yet? Allow us to give you five:

  1. Visit a public military display.

Look for historical or educational displays in your area and visit one on this day. Not only will it be an eye-opening experience for you, but it can also allow you to meet and interact with service members in your area. If you do, tell them how much you appreciate them for their service.

  1. Attend a parade.

Air shows and open houses usually accompany a parade to honor our service members. Join in the fun and attend the parade together with your loved ones.

  1. Send care packages to our troops overseas.

Want to show our service members overseas how highly you regard them? One of the best ways to do so is by sending them boxes of healthy snacks, toiletries, magazines, and just about any essential things you can think of.

  1. Write them thank-you notes.

A simple yet meaningful way to touch the lives of the men and women in our armed forces is by writing them letters of gratitude that come from the heart. If you have kids, ask them to do the same. How about helping them compose a short and sweet poem for our troops? Some nonprofit organizations, such as a Million Thanks, Inc., collect thank-you notes and deliver them to active, reserve, and retired members of the U.S. military.

  1. Treat someone who is, or was, in the military.

If you know someone in the military, whether still on active duty or retired, National Armed Forces Day is the perfect time to honor them by taking them out for lunch or even throwing an intimate party for them. You can also gift them with a basket of delicious goodies.

A Most Meaningful Way to Celebrate National Armed Forces Day

One of the best and simplest ways to meaningfully celebrate National Armed Forces Day is by extending a helping hand to our veterans, particularly those who are living miserable lives. They are those who are homeless and unable to find decent jobs as well as those who are suffering from disabilities and illnesses, including mental health disorders.

You can help provide them the decent life they deserve by donating any vehicle you can spare to us at Veteran Car Donations.

We’ll auction off your donated vehicle and use the proceeds to support the life improvement programs of our veteran-focused charity partners. These IRS-certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations use the funding we give to provide their beneficiaries with free quality health care, financial aid, housing assistance, employment opportunities, family support, educational scholarships, psychotherapy services, and many other benefits.

As our donor, you’ll be entitled to claim the maximum tax deduction in the next tax season. We’ll send you the 100% tax-deductible sales receipt of your car soon after its sale.

You’ll also benefit from our free pickup and towing service, which we will provide you anywhere you are in the country.

Aside from the material rewards in store for you as our donor, you’ll also be privileged to enjoy a most satisfying donating experience, knowing that your act of charity will help transform the lives of our nation’s heroes.

We accept almost all types of vehicles regardless of their age or condition. Head over to this page to learn what else besides cars qualify for our donation program.
