It’s a Day of Celebration, Remembrance, and Honor!

The third Saturday of May is a special day for our brave men and women who serve (and have served) in the armed forces. It’s National Armed Forces Day!

Taking place on May 20th this year, National Armed Forces Day is a day of celebration, remembrance, and honor. It’s the perfect opportunity to give back to those who willingly put their lives on the line so we can enjoy ours. We’re talking about the past and present members of all our military branches.

This National Armed Forces Day, take a break from your usual routine so you can take part in honoring our nation’s heroes. Let’s pay tribute to them by showing our gratitude — not just with words, but with actions that demonstrate how grateful we are for their dedication and service.

How You Can Give Back to the Brave Men and Women of Our Military

Whether you know a veteran, an active-duty member of the military, or family members of those deployed overseas, there are lots of meaningful ways of celebrating the occasion while honoring the brave and dedicated men and women of our military. Here are five ideas on how you can show them your appreciation and gratitude this year:

  1. Donate to a military-focused nonprofit charity.

Many organizations specialize in providing services to active-duty military personnel and veterans. Find one in your area and consider making a contribution. You can donate money or supplies to help provide essentials such as food and medical resources for that organization’s beneficiaries, including their families.

  1. Host a fundraising event.

A fundraising event is a great idea to generate money for a cause. If you want to do more than simply participate in one, perhaps you can start your own! Ask your family, friends, and community to help you out. It can be as simple as a bake sale or car wash. You can then transfer the proceeds to an organization that supports past and present members of our armed forces.

  1. Do something nice for a veteran.

Take time to do something nice for a former service member you personally know. Offer to help them with their chores or errands, invite them out for lunch, or simply visit and thank them for their service. Any of these gestures can mean a lot to veterans who may not have received the recognition they deserve from society.

  1. Consider starting a support group for family members of military personnel.

Support groups provide a platform for spouses and parents of our troops to discuss their experiences and share tips on managing military life. This helps them support each other during deployments, other difficult times, and homecomings. Consider forming one together with your friends, family, or like-minded individuals.

  1. Visit veterans at a hospital or care facility.

Nothing says “I care about you” like taking time to visit sick or elderly veterans in hospitals and care facilities and spreading cheer to them. Bring small gifts or offerings to show your gratitude and let them know that you care about their well-being.

Here’s a Simple Gesture You Can Do to Help Disadvantaged Vets Get Back on Their Feet

You can meaningfully celebrate National Armed Forces Day by doing a simple act of charity: Donate a vehicle you no longer need to us at Veteran Car Donations. We’ll use your donation to improve the living conditions of the struggling disadvantaged veterans in your local community.

Our team will auction off your car and hand over the proceeds to our veteran-focused charity partners. These IRS-approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations are dedicated to helping former service members who are homeless and impoverished, those who are unable to find decent jobs to support themselves and their families, and those suffering from service-connected disabilities and serious illnesses, including mental health disorders.

Our nonprofit partners use the funding we give them to provide their beneficiaries with housing and financial assistance, employment and livelihood opportunities, family support, free quality health care and medical treatment, psychotherapy services, scholarships, and many other benefits designed to improve the quality of their lives.

You’ll also benefit from your charitable act since it will allow you to reap valuable rewards. You’ll enjoy our free professional towing service wherever you are in the country. You’ll also be pleased with our quick and convenient donation process where you don’t have to do any paperwork.

Moreover, you’ll have the privilege of claiming the maximum tax deduction in the next tax season.

Above all, you’ll have the ultimate pleasure and satisfaction of doing something extraordinary that can help uplift the lives of our nation’s heroes.

We take in nearly all vehicle types, including those that are no longer in good condition.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to call us through our 24/7 toll-free hotline at 877-594-5822 or you may write to us here. Check out our FAQs page for more information on our donation program.
