Express Your Gratitude to Our Service Members This Month!

May holds a special place in the hearts of our active-duty service members and veterans alike. It’s a time when they are recognized and honored by their fellow Americans throughout the country. It’s National Military Appreciation Month.

Since most military-related holidays — such as Loyalty Day, Military Spouse Appreciation Day, VE Day, Armed Forces Day, and Memorial Day — take place in May, Congress thought that it’s only proper to designate May as National Military Appreciation Month.

This month-long observance encourages us to pay tribute to the men and women who have served and are still serving in the armed forces. After all the sacrifices they’ve made and everything they’ve gone through to keep us free and safe, they truly deserve our utmost appreciation and gratitude.

Many Americans celebrate National Military Appreciation Month by organizing parties and picnics dedicated to their local active-duty and reserve troops, as well as veterans. Others would reach out to service members they know, thanking them for their service through thoughtful deeds. Local businesses usually take part by offering special discounts, while organizers of some sports events provide free game tickets to military families and vets.

What about you? Are you looking for a way to get involved in the celebration? Veteran Car Donations shares five meaningful ways of observing National Military Appreciation Month.

  1. Deliver care packages.

Nothing says “I care about you” like assembling and sending care packages for our soldiers who are deployed overseas. Don’t forget to include healthy snacks, toiletries, entertainment gadgets, magazines, and other things they would love to receive. If you have kids, ask them to write thank-you notes to give that extra loving touch.

  1. Do volunteer work.

Find a military- or veteran-focused nonprofit in your area, or perhaps a veterans nursing home, and ask if you could work as a volunteer. Alternatively, you can try asking your local authorities if you can help with the upkeep and maintenance of a mural or park that honors our fallen heroes.

  1. Help out a veteran.

If you have a friend or relative who served in the military, spend a day (or even two) doing their chores and running errands on their behalf. You’ll be giving them a break, which they might have been needing for so long.

  1. Support veteran-owned businesses.

About 10% of small businesses in America are owned and operated by veterans. One fantastic way of observing National Military Appreciation Month is by supporting those businesses in your local area. Buy their products, try their services, or simply spread the word about them on social media. If you have no idea where to find veteran-owned businesses in your area, you may get your answers here.

  1. Adopt a military family.

Give back to a former or active armed forces member by adopting their family for a day. Invite them over for lunch, treat them to a spa day, and have your youngsters and theirs hang out. Who knows, they might enjoy your company so much that they’ll ask for a second family date next time!

Help Save Needy Veterans from Misery

There’s no question that all our military members, whether retired or still in active service, deserve our support. However, those who need help the most are our veterans who are struggling in life. We’re talking about those who are homeless, those who can’t find decent employment, and those suffering from disabilities and serious illnesses, including mental health disorders.

You can help turn their lives around through a simple act of charity — and that is by donating any spare vehicle you have to us here at Veteran Car Donations.

We’ll sell your donated auto through an auction and use the proceeds to support the life improvement programs of our veteran-focused charity partners. These IRS-approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations use the funding we give to provide their beneficiaries with free medical care, psychotherapy services, financial aid, family support, housing assistance, educational scholarships, employment opportunities, and many other benefits.

Your participation in our vehicle donation program will enable you to enjoy a fast and free towing service wherever you want us to collect your vehicle anywhere in the United States. Your donation will also entitle you to receive the maximum tax deduction in the next tax season.

On top of these, your vehicle donation will give you that incredible feeling of satisfaction, knowing that you’re giving back to our heroes who put their lives on the line to defend our nation’s freedoms and ensure our security.

We accept nearly all types of vehicles regardless of their year, make, model, mileage, or condition.

For more information about our vehicle donation program, you may browse through our FAQs page. Send us a message here if you have any concerns or inquiries, or give us a call anytime through our toll-free hotline at 877-594-5822.
