Pay Tribute to Our Nation’s Defenders!

September 11th is that day in 2001 when the world witnessed one of the most devastating terrorist attacks in history. Al Qaeda militants hijacked four American passenger jets and slammed two of them into the Twin Towers in New York, killing 2,750 people. The terrorists crashed the two other jets at the Pentagon, killing 184 people, and in a Pennsylvania field, killing 40.

In the years following the brazen terrorist attacks, the deadliest on American soil in U.S. history, Americans started commemorating 9/11 as Patriots Day, in remembrance of all those who were killed by the attacks on that fateful day.

A bill was later introduced in Congress to declare September 11th as National Day of Mourning. During the administration of President Barack Obama, September 11th was observed as Patriot Day and National Day of Remembrance. In 2017, President Donald Trump expanded the tribute to the fallen by declaring September 8th to 10th as National Days of Prayer and Remembrance and leaving September 11th as Patriot Day.

The tragic events of 9/11 were shocking and heartbreaking, but they also inspired Americans to come together to rebuild. They showed the resilience of the nation to withstand a blatant attack on democracy.

In commemoration of Patriot Day, Veteran Car Donations shares the following ways on how you can meaningfully observe the day and honor our fallen heroes:

  1. Visit the 9/1 Memorial.

On the site of the Twin Towers, there is now a giant memorial bearing the names of all of those who perished during the attacks (see photo above). These were fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, and friends to people who they left behind. Visit the memorial and say a prayer for them as you read their names.

  1. Display a flag in your home.

To show your solidarity with the event, display an American flag in your home. Government buildings will fly their flags at half mast and hold a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., the time that the first plane struck one of the towers of the World Trade Center.

  1. Volunteer for a good cause.

Because Patriot Day is a federal holiday, you can use your time to volunteer or do something worthwhile for first responders like doctors, firemen, and policemen in remembrance of the remarkable service they performed during the 9/11 attacks. The heroism of these remarkable men and women saved many individuals who would have perished in the tragedy.

Reach Out to Struggling Veterans in Your Area on Patriot Day

Following the 9/11 attacks, our nation struck back at the enemy by launching a global war against terrorism. In the years that followed, U.S. service members went above and beyond in protecting us and preserving our freedoms. Thousands of these troops were killed after two decades of fighting overseas. Many others returned home wounded and traumatized.

Many of these veterans now live in misery, suffering from poverty, homelessness, joblessness, service-connected disabilities, and serious illnesses, including mental disorders.

On Patriot Day, show them your appreciation and gratitude for their invaluable service to our nation. One simple way to do this is by donating any vehicle you can spare to us at Veteran Car Donations. We will use your donation to uplift the lives of the struggling veterans in your community.

Our team will put your vehicle up for auction, with the proceeds going to our veteran-focused nonprofit partners. These IRS-certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations use the funding we give them to provide deserving veterans with housing assistance, financial aid, employment and livelihood opportunities, family support, free quality health care and medical treatment, psychotherapy services, educational scholarships, and many other benefits.

Donating to us is not only stress-free but extremely rewarding as well. Your charitable contribution will entitle you to claim the highest possible tax deduction in the next tax season.

You will also receive our free professional towing service. Don’t worry if you’re not located in a major city — we can collect your donation wherever you are since our vehicle donation program covers the entire country.

Aside from the material rewards that will come your way, nothing will beat the uplifting sense of fulfillment you’ll experience, knowing that your donation will help improve the living conditions of the suffering veterans and their families in your community.

We accept almost all vehicle types whatever their ages or conditions. Whether you’re donating a car that still looks new or one that’s already rusty, we’ll be happy to accept it.

Our donation process is easy, quick, and convenient. All you have to do is contact us by phone or online. You’ll be done in just a few minutes and you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your home.
