A Day to Honor All Our Veterans, Both Living and Deceased

Have you ever wondered where would we be right now if it weren’t for the brave men and women of our military who willingly put their lives on the line to keep our nation safe? We’d probably be in a situation that would be far from being a pleasant one.

Our veterans gave their all to preserve our freedoms and protect our country’s security. As such, it’s only fitting that we dedicate a day to honor them. On November 11th, we celebrate Veterans Day to express our deepest gratitude to those who have served in the military.

Previously known as Armistice Day, this federal holiday is all about paying homage to both our fallen and living service members. It reminds us of the great contributions our former service members have made in upholding our liberties and way of life.

On this day, many Americans would pay their respects to our deceased soldiers by visiting the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. Others would join festivals and parades that commemorate the veterans in their state. A notable tradition is the observance of two minutes of silence, which takes place at 11 in the morning, the exact time when the armistice to end World War I was signed on November 11, 1918.

How You Can Pay Tribute to Our Veterans

While a simple “thank you for your service” message to our veterans may already be enough to make them smile, it can come across as an empty gesture. They’ve heard that line countless times already, and some of them have lost sight of its true essence.

What we’re saying is, if you’re truly eager to do something to touch the hearts of our vets, you should do more than just shaking their hands and saying your thanks. After all, actions speak louder than words.

So, what can you do to impact the lives of our heroes? Veteran Car Donations shares these five sure-fire ways:

  1. Hire a veteran.

If you’re a business owner or manager, you can hire a veteran for a position that suits them. This way, you can put the skills they’ve acquired from the service to good use. Many of our veterans are known to be fast learners. This should make it easy for you to train them for whatever position you need to fill.

  1. Offer your expertise.

Aside from donating cash to a veteran nonprofit organization, you can also offer your skills to help the group in its operation. Think about the things you’re good at that the nonprofit could make use of. For instance, if you work in construction, you can help build houses for the disabled or homeless vets in your community.

  1. Visit a retirement home.

Bring joy to veterans living in a retirement home by paying them a surprise visit. Bring them food or tokens, talk to them and hear their stories, let them reminisce their favorite memories during their time in the military, crack jokes, and, of course, tell them that you appreciate them for their service.

  1. Give a veteran a day off.

If you know a retired soldier in your neighborhood, volunteer to do their chores for them while they take a break and catch up on things they’ve been putting off. They won’t say no to that!

  1. Throw a party.

Celebrate with the veterans in your community by inviting them over to your place for a delicious feast in their honor. Have your friends and family pitch in. Don’t worry, you don’t have to bring the entire veteran community; invite only those you know.

Last But Not Least, Here’s What You Can Do to Honor Our Heroes

What if we told you that your old vehicle can be used to improve the living conditions of the needy and hurting veterans in your community? How? Simply donate it to us here at Veteran Car Donations!

Once we have your auto donation, we’ll sell it through an auction and turn over the proceeds to our IRS-certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit partners. Like us, these nonprofits are committed to helping our suffering veterans.

Our charity partners use the funding we give them to provide free medical services to those veterans who are suffering from disabilities as well as physical and mental health issues, educational scholarships for those who want to pursue a degree, job opportunities and career development programs for those who are living in poverty, and housing assistance for the homeless.

As a donor, you will also benefit from your charitable contribution. You won’t have to spend a single dime for towing, thanks to the free professional pickup and towing service we will provide you wherever you are in the country. You can also count on us to handle all your donation paperwork.

Furthermore, your gift will entitle you to receive a top tax deduction in the next tax season.

The best reward you’ll get, however, is the priceless satisfaction of doing something that can transform the lives of the struggling veterans in your community. That’s a feeling you’ll never forget.

We take almost all types of vehicles, including those that are no longer running and have a few damaged or missing parts.
