One Donated Car Can Make a Big Difference in Boulder

In Boulder, community isn’t just a value – it’s a way of life. We show up for each other during sunrise hikes over the Flatirons and coffee chats on Pearl Street. We bike more, waste less, and always try to lend a hand where we can. That’s why donating your old car, truck, or even an ATV isn’t just about clearing space – it’s about backing the veterans who live and work right here in our valley.

Maybe it’s a retired Subaru tucked behind your home in Mapleton Hill, or a trail-worn Jeep no longer hitting Chautauqua roads. Wherever it’s parked, your unused vehicle can be turned into housing, job training, and mental health services for those who’ve served. It’s local support, powered by your local life.

See How It Works: Car Donations in Boulder

1. Reach out to us – Fill out our quick online form or call us at 877-594-5822. Whether your car’s stored away near Chautauqua or parked off Pearl Street, we’ll take it from there.

2. Schedule your free pickup – Our local towing teams are no strangers to Boulder’s landscape, including the winding foothill roads in The Hill and the tighter drives near CU Boulder. We’ll coordinate a time that works for you; there’s no need to be home.

3. Receive your tax paperwork – Once we’ve picked up and sold your vehicle, we’ll send you all the IRS-compliant documents you need for your tax deduction.

4. Help Boulder-area veterans – The proceeds go straight to programs supporting local veterans with housing, job training, mental health services, and crisis relief – right here in Boulder County.

Top Reasons to Donate a Car in Boulder

  • Tax perks included – When your car sells, we’ll send you all the right paperwork to claim your deduction – IRS Form 1098-C and help with 8283 if needed. More support for you while you support others.
  • Free up space – no hassle – That dusty SUV parked near Table Mesa or the old hybrid collecting rust in your driveway off Iris? We’ll come pick it up for free, whether it runs or not.
  • Support veterans in your own backyard – Your donation directly funds services for Colorado vets, many of whom live in Boulder County. From temporary housing near North Broadway to job training programs offered through local partners, the help stays local.
  • Stay eco-conscious – In a city that values sustainability, donating helps keep Boulder’s air and roads cleaner. We recycle and process vehicles in an environmentally responsible way.
  • Give back the Boulder way – From Chautauqua trail volunteers to neighbors chipping in during CU game weekends, this town thrives on community support. Donating your car is just another way to pay it forward.

Boulderites really care about the environment, so your donation isn’t just helpful – it also perfectly fits with our community’s beliefs.

Proudly Serving Boulder Neighborhoods and Surrounding Areas

We serve every neighborhood in the city because veterans live and vehicles accumulate throughout the city.

  • Downtown / Pearl Street – Spotlight on local businesses, pedestrian life, and cultural events. We handle pickups near City Park, the Boulder Library, or hidden lots off Walnut.
  • University Hill – Home to students and faculty, where cars are often parked near campus parking garages or off-campus homes. We make donating easy, even for busy academic schedules.
  • Mapleton Hill – Historic Victorian homes and steep streets aren’t a challenge. We navigate tight blocks to help longtime residents contribute.
  • North Boulder (NoBo) – An artsy, family-friendly area near farmers markets and trail access – ideal for donors simplifying life and supporting veterans.
  • Chautauqua / Foothills – Residential roads end in stunning trailheads. From Chautauqua Trail to nearby canyon homes, we’re set up to help with pickups on all terrain.
  • Gunbarrel / Niwot – Often included in the extended service zone, this growing, eco-conscious suburban area sees many fleet downsizes and vehicle donations.

Live just outside Boulder? No problem. We know how to get to the winding roads of Left Hand Canyon, the open landscapes of Gunbarrel, and the quiet streets of Niwot. Our local tow partners cover the entire Boulder Valley and beyond – mountain towns, rural stretches, and foothill communities alike. It’s always free, always easy, and always done in support of veterans in our region.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How fast do you pick up vehicles in Boulder?

We usually schedule free pickup within 24–48 hours. Our drivers are familiar with foothill roads and neighborhood permit zones and can work around college class schedules or family commitments.

2. Can I donate a vehicle from outside Boulder County?

Absolutely! We serve surrounding areas, including Gunbarrel, Niwot, and mountain communities across the Boulder Valley.

3. Do you accept non-running vehicles or trailers?

Yes! We accept almost any vehicle, like cars, motorcycles, RVs, trailers, and even off-road bikes. As long as our tow trucks can hook it up, we’ll take it.

4. What kind of tax deduction will I receive?

After pickup, you’ll get a receipt right away. Once the vehicle sells, we issue final IRS documentation showing the sale price. You can deduct the full amount, up to the sale price, and we assist with Form 8283 for donations of $500 or more.

5. How does my donation benefit Boulder veterans?

Proceeds go directly to local nonprofits and county programs supporting veterans—housing, mental health services, career coaching, and emergency relief. Your gift stays local.

6. What if I lost the title, or it lists multiple owners?

No problem! Our in-house team can usually handle everything for you. Lost titles, shared ownership, missing signatures—we’ve seen it all and know how to make it easy. If a DMV visit is needed, we’ll guide you through the process at the Boulder County Motor Vehicle Division, located at 1750 33rd St, Boulder, CO 80301. They handle titles and registrations by appointment only (no license services). But in most cases, you won’t even need to go—we’ll prep your forms and walk you through it all.
