Your Car Gift Makes a Real Impact on the Lives of Our Local Heroes

If your trusty car is ready to retire, send it off on a final mission that truly matters. Here in Worcester – where history meets heart – your vehicle can become a meaningful gift for the men and women who served our country.

From the Soldiers’ Monument on Worcester Common to the peaceful paths around Green Hill Park’s Vietnam Veterans Memorial, our city honors service with pride. The Worcester Memorial Auditorium, opened in 1933, stands as a powerful salute to World War I heroes, and the Korean War Memorial by Washington Square solemnly honors the 191 local lives lost.

Still, beyond these stone tributes and the lively energy of Shrewsbury Street’s restaurants, many veterans face real challenges – unstable housing, limited access to care, and the tough road back to steady work.

That’s where Veteran Car Donations comes in. When you donate a vehicle you no longer need, you help fuel programs that directly support Worcester’s veterans with transitional housing, job training, and mental health services. A simple gift can turn your car into a lifeline.

FAQ | Worcester, MA Car Donations

1. How will you pick up my vehicle in Worcester?

We work with local towing professionals who are familiar with Worcester’s layout. Once you schedule your donation, we’ll arrange for free pickup – often within one to two days. You’ll receive a donation receipt at pickup or shortly after.

2. What’s the usual timeframe for completing a donation?

From pickup to final paperwork, it typically takes one to six weeks. We’ll keep you updated every step of the way.

3. What vehicles do you accept, and do they need to be in working condition?

We accept most vehicles commonly found in Worcester, including sedans, SUVs, trucks, motorcycles, and RVs. Whether it’s a Toyota Corolla, Honda CR-V, or Ford Escape, we’ll likely take it. It doesn’t need to run – just make sure you have its title.

4. How does my car donation help veterans in my neighborhood?

The funds from the sale of your donated car directly support veterans who live and work nearby through:

  • Safe housing for those transitioning to civilian life

5. How much is my tax deduction worth, and what paperwork do I need?

Generally, your tax deduction will equal the sale price, but there are exceptions. If your vehicle sells for less than $500, your deduction is its fair market value on the date you donated it, up to $500. If the sale price exceeds $500, your deduction will be limited to the gross proceeds from the sale.

To claim a tax deduction for your car donation that’s between $501 and $5,000, you need to complete Section A on tax form 8283. If the deduction exceeds $5,000, you also need to complete Section B on the same form. We’ll send you all the necessary paperwork.
