You’ve probably passed them at the Augusta, Michigan, post office, seen them fishing near Goguac Lake, or noticed them placing flags along the paths of Fort Custer National Cemetery. Veterans are part of Augusta’s heartbeat right here in Southwest Michigan – neighbors who served, returned home, and now contribute quietly to our community.

When you donate a vehicle to Veteran Car Donations, you’re doing more than clearing space; you’re directly helping the men and women who have bravely fought for our nation. This is your chance to give back for all the sacrifices they’ve made to protect our freedom.

Our Easy 3-Step Augusta Car Donation Process

Donating your vehicle is straightforward and stress-free. We partner with local towing providers who know the area well, from the quiet neighborhoods off Augusta Drive to the rural outskirts along M-96.

Step 1: Get Started in Minutes

Call us or complete our quick online form. We’ll ask for a few details, particularly the vehicle type, condition, and location. Whether it’s parked in a driveway near West Michigan Avenue or tucked behind a barn on the outskirts of town, we’ll handle the rest.

Step 2: Free Pickup, Fast Turnaround

We schedule your vehicle’s pickup within 24 to 48 hours, at no cost to you. Our tow truck drivers know the local backroads and tight driveways – they’ll arrive when it works for you and leave you with a donation receipt on the spot.

Step 3: Your Tax Deduction, Made Simple

Once your vehicle is sold, we mail you a tax-deductible receipt. You can claim the deduction based on the sale price or fair-market value – we’ll make sure you get what you need for tax time.

Here’s why our donor, Chip, called the experience “a breeze” in his 5-star review:

“I filled out the online form, and from that point on, everything was taken care by them. I was promptly called, the tow company came when they were supposed to, and it was done quickly.”

And don’t worry about title transfers, DMV forms, or red tape – our team handles it all.

Why Donating a Car Makes a Big Difference

Your car may not run. It might be old. But in Augusta, it still has value – because it can help a former military member access critical support services like:

  • Transitional housing and rental assistance in the Battle Creek area
  • Job training and placement through Michigan Works! programs
  • Mental health and PTSD counseling
  • Transportation to appointments at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center
  • Emergency aid for groceries, utilities, and child care

And for you?

  • Free towing, even in rural areas
  • A legitimate tax deduction without having to list or sell the car
  • No paperwork or DMV hassles – we’ve got it covered
  • Avoid the stress of strangers, listings, or lowball offers – skip the sales process entirely
  • A satisfying feeling knowing your vehicle is helping the struggling vets in your community

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What types of vehicles can I donate?

We accept a wide range of vehicles common in Augusta and nearby areas, including:

  • Cars, trucks, and SUVs
  • Motorcycles and ATVs
  • RVs, campers, trailers
  • Boats and jet skis

If you’re eager to see what else qualifies for our donation program, check out our full list here. And yes, we take non-running vehicles too. Just tell us where it’s parked – whether near Fort Custer, downtown, or in a farm lane – and we’ll arrange free pickup.

2. How fast does the whole process happen?

From the moment you let us know you’re donating, we work as quickly as we can. Expect free pickup in 24–48 hours, during which you’ll receive a towing receipt that releases you from liability. Within 30 days after selling your vehicle, we’ll send you a tax-deductible donation receipt by mail.

3. How much of a tax deduction will I get?

You can deduct the sale price of your car. If it sells for $500 or less, you may deduct its fair market value (up to $500). If it sells for more than $500, your deduction equals the full sale price. We’ll send your IRS-required receipt as soon as the car is sold.

4. Do I need to be present when my car’s towed?

Not at all. Many donors in neighborhoods like Victory Heights or along Holly Road leave their keys and title in a designated spot. Just let us know where everything will be, and we’ll handle it from there and notify you once it’s picked up.

5. What does the donation process cost me?

Nothing at all. Towing, title handling, paperwork – everything’s on us!

6. I have a title issue. Can I still donate?

Absolutely. Our title team is here to help with common issues like missing signatures, co-owner questions, or name mismatches. In most cases, we can take care of everything remotely.

If an in-person visit is urgently required, the nearest Secretary of State office is the Kalamazoo Secretary of State Branch, which is located at 3298 Stadium Drive, Kalamazoo, MI 49008. We’ll guide you every step of the way to make sure your donation process stays simple and stress-free.
