Step 1: 

Start by filling out our online donation form, which you can find on the right side of this page. If you prefer, you can contact us directly by calling 877-594-5822. Either way, we’ll request your contact information, including your name, address, email address, and phone number. We’ll also ask for a few details about the vehicle you’d like to donate, such as its year, make, model, VIN, and mileage. Be sure to let us know whether you have the title and if the vehicle is currently running. 

Step 2: 

After reviewing the information you provided, we’ll determine whether we can take the vehicle. If we can, we’ll schedule your vehicle pickup at a time, date, and location that works best for you. We’ll arrange for a professional towing company to handle the pickup for free. Before the tow truck leaves, you’ll receive a donation receipt that releases you from all liability for the vehicle. At that point, you can cancel your registration and insurance coverage and properly dispose of your license plates. 

Step 3: 

Your vehicle will be sent to a local auction house; we may refurbish it before offering it for sale to help increase its value. Once the vehicle is sold, we’ll mail you a 100-percent tax-deductible sales receipt. This receipt will show your vehicle’s final selling price; you’ll use this document when claiming your tax deduction on your itemized federal income tax return. Be sure to keep this receipt for your records.

Which Vehicles Are Accepted for Donation?

At Veteran Car Donations, you can donate many types of vehicles. On a case-by-case basis, we may also accept vehicles that aren’t running.  

Here are some vehicles we often receive through our McAllen, Texas, car donations program:
