One Small Act, One Big Boston-Strong Impact
In Boston, we don’t just talk about loyalty – we live it. From the cobblestones of Beacon Hill to the triple-deckers in Dorchester, this city has a long history of showing up for its own. So if you’ve got a vehicle you no longer need – whether it’s tucked into a Southie driveway or parked in a garage in Jamaica Plain – donating it can directly help local veterans in need.
When you donate your car in Boston, you’re backing programs that offer housing, job training, mental health support, and emergency relief for Massachusetts veterans. It’s easy, it’s tax-deductible, and it’s the kind of thing Bostonians do: lend a hand when it matters most.
The Car Donation Process in Boston
1. Start your donation – Fill out our quick online form or give us a ring at 877-594-5822. We’ll ask for a few details about your vehicle – whether it’s sitting behind a triple-decker in Allston or on a side street in Roslindale.
2. Schedule a free pickup – Our local towing partners know Boston’s tight roads, steep driveways, and snow-season surprises. We’ll coordinate a time that works for you.
3. Get your tax paperwork – Once we pick up and sell the vehicle, we’ll send you all the IRS documentation you need to claim your deduction.
4. Support local veterans – Your donation stays in-state, helping vets in Boston and surrounding communities get the resources they need to rebuild.
Why Donate a Car in Boston?
- Help Massachusetts veterans – Your donation helps fund programs near the Jamaica Plain VA Medical Center and veteran housing around Greater Boston.
- Make space in your driveway – Whether it’s an unused SUV in Brighton or a snowed-in sedan in East Boston, we’ll tow it at no cost.
- Enjoy tax perks – Get a full write-off with proper documentation, including IRS Form 8283 if needed.
- Eco-friendly impact – We repurpose and responsibly recycle vehicles, helping keep Boston cleaner and greener.
From marches on the Common to Red Sox salute nights at Fenway, Bostonians know how to show appreciation. Donating your car is one more way to say “thank you” to those who’ve served.
Where We Operate in Boston – Neighborhoods We Serve
Veterans live in every zip code, and so do generous people who want to help. That’s why we serve neighborhoods all across Boston, from the historic to the hard-working.
- South Boston (“Southie”) – Known for its deep military roots and Irish-American pride, Southie’s tight-knit community is full of people who understand service. We regularly pick up donations here, especially older vehicles passed down through families.
- Dorchester – Boston’s largest neighborhood- is full of life, and old cars ready for a second purpose. Whether you’re near Franklin Park or Codman Square, we’ll come to you.
- Jamaica Plain – J.P. blends community activism with laid-back vibes. Locals often donate vehicles to make room for bikes and strollers, or to downsize. We serve this neighborhood with care – especially near the VA medical center.
- Back Bay & Beacon Hill – Compact parking and steep streets? No problem. Our drivers know the challenges of navigating alleys behind brownstones or tight one-way streets off Charles Street.
- Allston-Brighton – From BU students clearing out old rides to longtime residents upgrading, donations are common here. Our team handles pickups near Commonwealth Ave or Soldiers’ Field Road with ease.
- East Boston (“Eastie”) – Whether your car’s tucked behind a triple-decker or parked along the waterfront, we’re there. Many Eastie residents donate to support veterans from immigrant families and working-class backgrounds.
- Roxbury & Mattapan – We frequently pick up vehicles in these culturally rich neighborhoods, where local pride and community support run strong.
Wherever you are, from the Seaport to the suburbs, we’ll meet you there. Because Boston veterans deserve help from every corner of the city they’ve served.
Boston Car Donation FAQs – Quick & Clear
1. How fast can I schedule a pickup in Boston?
We usually arrange free pickup within 24–48 hours. Our local team understands Boston’s tight streets and weather conditions – we’ll work with you to find the best window, even if it’s snow season.
2. Do you take non-running vehicles?
Yes, absolutely. Whether it’s an old pickup in Dorchester or a stalled-out sedan in Mission Hill, we can tow it. We accept most cars, trucks, motorcycles, trailers, and even boats and RVs (space permitting).
3. How does the tax deduction work?
After pickup, you’ll get an initial receipt. Once the vehicle sells, we’ll send a final acknowledgment with the exact sale price. You can deduct that amount on your federal return, and we’ll help with IRS Form 8283 if needed.
4. What do you do with the money from my car?
Proceeds go directly to veteran programs right here in Massachusetts. That includes housing support, job placement, and mental health care through local partners. It’s really helpful for real people living nearby.
5. What if I lost my title?
No problem. We offer in-house support and can help you replace a lost title through the Massachusetts RMV. If needed, we’ll guide you through using AAA Boston (141 Congress St) or the Haymarket RMV at 136 Blackstone St – though most donors never have to go in person.
